Sociopolitical Commentary Drives Sci-Fi Epic
Anthony Greer’s The Raven of Dusk: Transcendence uses various viewpoints and the distinct voices of its characters to tell the story of the planet Noreis’ descent into chaos and persecution. Greer uses an action-packed plot and engaging storytelling skills to create a complete and original world where a few individuals struggle against a seemingly inevitable world-wide extinction. The Raven of Dusk is a complicated book, filled with full-fledged characters and metaphors about political abuse, totalitarianism and power that will resonate with inveterate sci-fi fans and those interested in how the political impacts the personal.
From the Book Description
The Ravens are watching.
They are hiding in the shadows of a vibrant and prosperous world where women rule among men, disputes are fickle, and a bright history is being written.
They are hiding in the alleys between skyscrapers that can kiss the heavens, in cities were crystal-coated streets crunch like rock candy beneath your feet, and near the waterfronts where the sea glistens and sparkles as far as the eye can wander.
They are hiding when Raiden Arias begins a journey of vengeance, where his son’s life may be held in the balance.
They are hiding when Eliza Bennihan finds herself encased in a mysterious white glow while Vila Pirral, a political animal she longs to intern for, is on the verge of giving birth to a child that should not exist.
They are hiding when Koston Donnick, a beloved dynastic hero, finds his only solace in his darkest secrets while his son falls into moral depravity and his queen’s allies are turning against her.
They are hiding when one man’s desire to learn of the Transcendence Theory causes ripples in the world of Noreis’ placid fabric and threatens the long-standing peace of its inhabitants.
They are hiding when political ties begin to shift and break, and when unlikely alliances are forming, and when betrayals are devastating. And as dawn sheds light on the beginning of the end of days, only one thing is certain: whatever once caused a world-wide extinction thousands of years ago threatens to repeat itself, the Ravens know their place on the global chessboard.
And they know that it is time to make their presence known.
About the Author
Anthony Greer is a slightly off-kilter contradiction. Sometimes he is a leaf on the wind and rides the sky waves wherever they him. He’s a great conversationalist as long as you don’t talk during Game of Thrones or Big Brother, and incredibly nice when he wants to trade resources with you in Settlers of Catan (don’t do it! It’s a trap!!!).
He was raised amongst the olive-skinned natives of a Long Island town before transplanted to the rain-coated, black coffee loving capital of the Starbucks world. He learned early after being too school for cool that bartending supported his addiction to structuring sentences into stories of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery and Young Adult.

Angel Romance Series’ Second Novel Continues the Story of the Zenith Elite Protectors
The second in the “Zenith Elite” series of paranormal romance novels, “Protect My Heart” continues the story of the Zenith Elite, a group of Protectors who were created by archangels and are as old as time itself. They appear in many forms and have a mission to save souls and combat evil wherever it is found. Though this book and the previous Zenith Elite angel romance, “Protect My Soul” are connected, each can be read on its own and knowledge of one is not required to understand the other.
The book begins with Protector Alex, who has found a badly beaten woman, Willie, in the trunk of her own car. She has been sexually assaulted, and is in terrible shape both physically and emotionally. And Alex knows who the perpetrator is: the Soul Stealer. The worst part of the assault is that the Soul Stealer has also taken Willie’s soul.
The story follows a group of young, 20-something Protectors who are, in many ways, much like “normal” humans. They go to parties, chase women and have an overabundance of testosterone. The difference, however, is that they are also Protectors. Some have special powers. All have been given the sacred task of protecting humans. As the plot unfolds, we meet other protectors in the group, including Gideon, its leader, and Azrael, his archenemy. We also learn more about the crisis that has befallen Willie. Her ordeal is not over…in fact it is just beginning.
Herald has, again, created a thoughtful and thought-provoking look at love and how our connection to other people gives our lives meaning. On one level this is an exciting fantasy about angels and souls, on another it is a paranormal romance involving a group of mystical guardians. And on yet another, it is a meditation on what we owe to each other as human beings and the limits of care-taking and compassion. Anyone who enjoys paranormal romance, angel romance and fantasy romance will surely enjoy “Protect My Heart,” as will lovers of adventure and those who look for deeper meaning and truths in novels of any genre.
About the Author
About both her nursing work and her writing, M.J. Herald says, “I believe we that we do not know everything there is to know in this world. Some things are not black and white, there are a lot of gray areas.“
In her debut novel, “Protect My Soul,” Herald has created a complex story of romance, love and redemption and good versus evil. “Protect My Soul” and “Protect My Heart” are part of the Zenith Elite paranormal romance series for adults, which focuses on a group of Protectors who have existed almost as long as time itself. Created by the archangels, they take many forms and appear any place that evil lives or a soul needs saving.
A New England native, Herald is the mother of two and the grandmother of six. She is currently working on more paranormal/angel romance novels, tentatively titled “Protect My Legacy” and “An Unexplained Love.”

Entertainment Combined With Spirituality
“An Adventure in Mysticism” is a two-part book that tells the story of one man’s spiritual awakening based on his discovery of a biblical text, “The Book of I AM” in the first half and then provides the actual text of The Book of I Am in the second half. It is the prequel to Don Mardak’s “Armageddon and the Fourth Timeline,” a novel that combined science fiction and mysticism and told the story of both a spiritual awakening and an adventure involving an imminent world apocalypse and one man’s journey back in time to save humanity. “Adventure in Mysticism” delves more deeply into the early spiritual development of the hero, Eric, starting with his travels to the holy land at a young age, meeting the man who would become his spiritual adviser, and his discovery of The Book of I AM, which reveals new biblical truth about states of being and the very nature of God.
Both books combine elements of adventure/fantasy and elements of mysticism, but much of the action in “An Adventure in Mysticism” is provided by the description of Eric’s development of a divine awareness. The cliffhangers here are based more on following his discovery of new truths than on his ability to save the world from perishing. The book is a charming blend of spirituality and entertainment. It is a thought-provoking exploration of religion, the nature of divinity and of personal awakening as it relates to conceptions of God and what it means to be human.
About the Author
Don Mardak has been a student of Christian mysticism, the Infinite Way writings of Joel S. Goldsmith, and the teachings of numerous spiritual masters for more than four decades. He also has conducted classes on Living the Mystical Life, and has been a successful entrepreneur for most of his working years. As the President, CEO and Chairman of a small public company, Mr. Mardak always tried to apply the mystical principles outlined in his books and on this website in his business dealings and relationships. The results have been quite astonishing as, very often, without taking thought, or striving for a specific result, the proper person appeared, or a meaningful event occurred, which made each day a divine spiritual unfoldment. His greatest desire is that those of you who truly are receptive to this message will open yourselves up to the inflow of the Spirit. In that process, you will find answers to your deepest questions which, then, will lead you to your own search for Truth and, ultimately, your personal spiritual destiny.
Mr. Mardak lives with his wife Judy in Wisconsin and Florida. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.

The 17: The Hunger Games Meets The Breakfast Club
The 17 by Mike Kilroy, published by Fishtail Publishing has been called a cross between “The Hunger Games” and “The Breakfast Club”. Others have compared it to “The Lord of the Flies” both because it’s a coming of age story and because of the dystopian world it presents. Told in 3 parts or books, it begins with the abduction of Zack, an ordinary 17-year-old boy from Maine, by the Ankhs, who live on a distant planet. Convinced that their civilization can only be saved by something they call a “spark”, the Ankhs have devised a plan to create one by pulling together a group of 17 teenagers from all over the galaxy and pitting them against each other in various contests, trials and brutal challenges, both physical and mental. Zack becomes involved with one of the other 17, a girl named Mizuki, and together they must navigate the torturous new world they’ve been taken to. The tasks present them with trials unlike any they have ever encountered and they find that both their values and their very lives are at stake. As they navigate this new world they find comfort in each other and form alliances with members of the 17 in order to survive.
The plot of Dan Kilroy’s novel is complex, well-crafted and presents a completely fleshed out alternate world that Zack and Mizuki now inhabit. Full of ingenious plot twists and unexpected events, this is a science fiction/fantasy about young adult romance that adults will find thrilling, compelling and constantly surprising.
Mike Kilroy wrote his
first book when he was 8 years old and has been writing ever since. An award-winning journalist for more than two decades, Kilroy is also the author of the best-selling, post-apocalyptic “Nine Meals.”
